Wedding Photography, Beltpack or Slingpack?
I am wedding photographer and have a very old, very large camera bag that I love, but just isn’t practical or attractive. I am looking into a new bag, and am thinking about a sling, such as: http://products.lowepro.com/product/SlingShot-350-AW,2117,4.htm. However, after reading some reviews by Ken Rockwell, I was wondering if a beltpack might be more practical for me. I want a bag to carry around my camera, 3 lenses, flash, flash bracket, batteries, charger, SD cards, etc, etc…. What are your thoughts?
First of all I have to say this.. I am not a wedding photographer, I have never shot a wedding, I have turned down many weddings, and I do not want to be a wedding photographer. I however respect what you do and hope I can offer some advice.
If I was a wedding photographer I would hope to have my Canon 1 series and 24-70mm f/2.8 round my neck for nearly all of the service. On my back I would have the Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW..

In there I would have spare batteries, cards, additional flash, 16-35mm f/2.8 L, plus 50mm f/1.4. If you are well established then you can afford to hire an assistant to carry all this for you. I would possibly carry my backup body (maybe a 30D or 40D) in the backpack as well, but this is of course extra weight to carry, I would likely keep it in the car.
So there is my answer, I’m ill informed because I have never shot a wedding, but if I did, then that is what I would carry and that is the bag I would use.
